18KT White Gold South Sea Pearl and Rounded Box Link Station Necklace

$2,750.00

SKU CEJ00008129

This outstanding station necklace features seven South Sea baroque style pearls gauging from 11.90mm to 12.80mm's and each exhibiting a greyish body colour with strong pinkish, bluish and greenish overtones. Each pearl is evenly separated by 4 centimeters of 18kt white gold rounded box link chain which continues to the clasp and measures 62cm (24") in total length and secures with a lobster claw clasp. Baroque South Sea pearls are the ones that grow in non-round or unpredictable shapes. These organic shapes create beautiful natural curves that allow light to be reflected in a variety of directions, giving the pearl's luster a multicolored palette. South Sea pearls are the largest and most luxurious of all cultured pearl types on the market today. The South Sea pearl oyster, Pinctada can be either "silver-lipped" or "gold-lipped" varieties, and produces natural shades of white and gold respectively. 99% of all South Sea pearls undergo NO treatment of any kind other than a gentle washing and buffing after harvest and display a natural colour found nowhere else on Earth. Ranging in size from 8.0-20.0mm, with an average size ranging from 9.0-10.0mm through 14.0-15.0mm. Often called the “Queen of Pearls”, South Sea pearls feature a gorgeous palette of natural colors that shimmer with delicate overtones and are simply unmistakable. South Sea pearls are nucleated using a perfectly round mother-of-pearl bead nucleus. Over the course of 2-3 years, the oyster continuously covers the interior bead nucleus with thousands of concentric layers of nacre and conchiolin, forming a pearl, hence the pearl is larger. South Sea pearls radiate a gorgeous “glow” that appears to emanate from within, rather than the harder “mirror-like shine” that Akoya pearls are famous for. Given the rarity of the oyster, cultivation and production costs are extremely high all contributing to the reason why South Sea Pearls are among the most expensive pearls in the market today.
